Prompt: After reading Chapter 1 of Into the Wild, consider your first impression of Christopher McCandless. Based solely on the events and details presented in this opening chapter, do you believe McCandless truly understood the risks he was taking when he entered the Alaskan wilderness? Why or why not?

  Prompt Response:  I don't believe he understood the danger he was going into. He just seemed very curious and wanted to change his lifestyle. Also he didn't seem like he was aware on how long he wanted to stay in the wilderness. Summary:  Chris McCandless didn't seem aware of the dangers he was getting himself into. Reflection:  I enjoyed reading chapter 1 of the book about Chris McCandless and hope to continue to read it.

Prompt: Today you worked on creating your Vocabulary Digital Cards in Adobe Express. In one well-developed paragraph, reflect on the assignment by explaining which vocabulary word was easiest for you to understand, which word was most challenging, and how creating your own sentence and selecting an image helped strengthen your understanding of the vocabulary. Use specific examples from your work.

Prompt Response:  The easiest word for me to understand was sedative. I was familiar with this word before we had this assignment. This allowed me to better understand the word when I researched it. Also using the synonyms, antonyms, and the picture was a large help to further my understanding of the word sedative. Summary:  I used the vocabulary poster assignment to better my understanding of the word sedative. Reflection:  I hope to improve my vocabulary in the future.

Prompt: After viewing your classmates’ digital posters and reading the feedback comments left on your work, what new ideas or perspectives did you gain about your poster? Reflect on how the feedback influenced the way you think about your creative choices and describe what you learned about the creative process while designing and presenting your poster.

Prompt:  I had new ideas of being more confident and trying to figure out who I am. I also got perspective of people seeing me from the outside. People told me that I should make changes to the way I act around others. Although there are some area where I need to change, there are also parts of myself that I am happy with and don't think needs changing. Summary:  I had some comments on my slides and I used them to change myself. Reflection:  I will use this assignment for some self reflection to try to better myself.

Prompt: Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge (or what you might do differently next time).

Prompt Response:  I struggled the most on making a metaphor about overcoming fear. It was hard for me because I'm not frightened of many things so it was challenging to come up with a good sentence.  Summary:  I struggled making a metaphor about overcoming fear. Reflection:  I will continue to better my understanding of myself.

Prompt: Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

  Prompt Response:  Through this assignment of making similes and metaphors about myself, I learned much more about myself than I knew before. I learned that I am happy with who I am and I understand what I do right and wrong. Summary:  I learned some good and not good things about myself through this assignment. Reflection:  I hope to become a more well rounded person and become better in areas that I struggle in.

Prompt: Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school.   Prompt Response:  I spent my time playing basketball, working out, and spending time with friends. Everyday I spent about 2 hours playing either pickup or working on my game by doing certain drills. When I worked out I trained my whole body and spent time recovering after. Also I made sure to create lots of time to spend with some of my friends. I played fortnite with luh N fiii (Nathaniel Dorsett). Summary:  I had lots of fun doing what I enjoyed over the break. Reflection:  I'm really looking forward to spring break, because I'll have lots of time to have fun with friends.

Prompt: If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

   Prompt Response:  In my life I felt the beginning of a powerful story when I join the Lakeside basketball program. My freshman year we played really well and got lots of exposure to the basketball world. Also I met lots of friends and cool people through this program. Summary:  When I joined Lakeside basketball I became great. Reflection:  I will continue to have fun and get better at lakeside.
